Rolling Hills Math and English Tutor Mathew

Mathew was raised in Palos Verdes and as such he is familiar with many of the teachers and curriculums at the local schools. At 23 now he's been tutoring since his days in high school; where he taught at SCORE! and received two promotions for outstanding work while there. He has since tutored in college and beyond and has great gifts with explanation and motivation. The main subjects he tutors are Math and English. He also tutors for SAT for all sections and for other test prep subjects such as SAT 2 for math and English, ACT, and the LSAT.

"Hello, my name is Mathew. Towards the end of my high school career my ambition and persistence allowed me to receive an academic scholarship to the University of California at Berkeley, and after my sophomore year I transferred to the University of California at Irvine. I earned my bachelors degree in Political Science, which enabled me to gain noteworthy understanding in many areas of literature and history. In addition, I have developed adept quantitative and analytical skills from my academic background. During the past eight years I have tutored students in English, history, mathematics, and also in the SAT I (Verbal and Math) and SAT II (Math Level I as well as Level II). I really enjoy tutoring math and have extensive experience tutoring up to the pre-calculus level. I find tutoring very rewarding and plan on pursuing education as a career in the future.

As someone who truly enjoys being an educator, a mentor, and a tutor I have been able to help a diverse group of students with varying skills succeed academically. I am great at motivating my students to want to do well and succeed. This is a skill which I have developed over the many years that I have tutored.

What makes my tutoring advantageous is my ability to connect with different students, and communicate with them effectively, while making the material interesting and fun to learn. I do have extensive experience in preparing students for the SAT and I am very proficient at it. In fact, I have managed to improve some of my students’ scores by over 200 points. I also have a lot of experience in helping students with composition, essay writing, and both comprehending and writing about history and literature."
