Laura is a great choice for families in the Rolling Hills and Palos Verdes areas for many reasons listed below. One of the most significant is that she grew up on the hill and graduated from PVPHS with a 4.9 GPA. As a recent graduate she knows the difficult curriculums, many of the teachers, and what it takes to succeed in this competitive school district.
Laura's specialty is for both high school and college-level math courses, and for general K-8th tutoring. With her academic background she is also able to tutor many other subjects that aren't in her specialty. She is available for in home tutoring for the Rolling Hills, Palos Verdes, South Torrance, and Redondo Beach areas for Pre-algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics (she tutors honors, AP, and regular for all of these). In addition, she is available for all K-8th subjects.
She has been tutoring students in math and science courses since her junior year of high school. She is currently 23 years old and lives in Rolling Hills Estates. As someone with a calm, patient, and understanding demeanor, her personality is very well suited for tutoring. Laura has strong communication skills and is easily able to alter her teaching methods according to the different learning styles of her pupils.
Laura received A’s in every math course she has taken, as well as a 780 on her SAT Math IIC exam. In May 2010, she graduated from Georgetown University with degrees in economics and mathematics. She recently completed her graduate school applications to pursue a master’s degree in statistics starting in the fall of 2012. She will likely be staying in the area for the next 2 years and plans to continue tutoring while she gets her masters degree.
